7 months
7 months old has been an interesting time. Peter has started to experience separation anxiety. He now cries when I leave the apartment, and occasionally when I leave the room. But, he especially cries and gets upset when we put him down for his nap or at bedtime, and leave the room.
This past week has been particularly horrific. On Thursday, I had to make Mexican Rice for 60 people for our RS meeting, as well as a chocolate bundt cake. That happened to be the day that Peter would not go down for a nap. It took me three hours of his screaming and crying, whether I was holding him or not. Not fun! Then, when I got home from the meeting, it was 10pm and Chris had been trying for 2 hours to get Peter to go to sleep. He finally went down at 11:30.
Perhaps with the sleep deprivation of dealing with Peter and with stress over planning the RS meeting, Chris and I both got soar throats and other various cold symptoms. To top it off, I got a nasty case of the stomach flu with a fever on Saturday. I came out on Saturday morning after a rough night to Chris telling me he thought he needed to go to the ER. He had acute pain in his left side. It turns out, he strained his back, so the doctor gave him some strong ibuprofen. Anyway, it was rough trying to care for Peter singlehandedly when much movement would set me off. I recall my mom saying how she missed her mom when she got sick. This holds new meaning for me. When you're a mom, and you get sick, often there is no one to take care of you, and it makes you miss your mom. :) That was certainly true for me!
Despite the rough time, Peter was so patient and sweet and such a good sport through it all. He also started going to sleep with us sitting next to his crib, so that is a nice change.
Peter loves bathtime and especially loves to splash in the water. Now that we're bathing him sitting up, he splashes a LOT and soaks whoever bathes him (usually me).
Post bath. I thought this picture showcased his rolls quite well. He is one chubby baby.
Peter's hair is starting to grow back in. I think it'll take a long time to get as thick as it was when he was a newborn, though.
These pictures of Peter are on his 7 month birthday exactly. He is wearing 12 month clothes. A little long on him, perhaps, but not very much. But they fit his width just right.
Still trying to figure out exactly how to take pictures with our camera. Even if there is tons of light in the room, if I don't use our flash, it comes out dark, for some reason. If I change the setting from Auto, then it's very difficult to focus the pictures. It's a work in progress.
Peter and Daddy. Happy baby, as he always is when he's with Chris. I think Peter prefers to play with Chris and be comforted by me. Sort of as I predicted before he was born.
Finally a picture with Momma. When Chris takes a picture, he tries to get Peter to smile, so he doesn't pay attention to where he points the camera, or if it's focused. But this one turned out well. :) In this picture, Peter's hair color looks lighter than mine. I wonder if it will darken over time, or if it will turn blond.
